Learning Systemantics

“A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked. A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work. You have to start over with a working simple system.”
This statement is taken from the book Systemantics: How Systems Work and Especially How They Fail by, John Gall.

While this statement is quiet obscure in meaning it applies perfectly on the world of poker. You need to learn the basics of poker first to start out your development as a poker player. As the adage say, “You have to be able to crawl before you walk”.

Lots of people wanted to have what they want quickly. They think that after they read a book about poker and familiarize the strategies written in it, they can face the poker professionals. That’s their big mistake. You cannot be a poker professional in an instant. You have to learn by practicing and applying the skills needed in the game.

Crucial to success in the world of poker is to build a firm base that you can develop. Do not build complicated strategies with so many imperfections that you can’t fix. Knowledge of advance methods in playing is useless if you already make big mistakes in your basic strategy.

A firm and simple basic strategy includes these skills:

1.Distinguishing the basic hand characteristics
2.The proper use of aggression
3.Identifying the the edge and drawback of your position
4.The importance of probability

These skills are your basic foundation, and you must learn to master these skills before going into the big leagues.

Lower limit poker can be conquered using these basic skills. Advance play cannot be applied here because it will just hinder your game due to the fact that lower limit games are pretty straightforward in nature. You don’t have to learn complex game strategies when your playing on these level, you will just end up being confuse and lost.

When you already master these basic strategies, you can now apply the complicated stuffs and add it up into your knowledge data base.

If you are already a seasoned player who plays badly then its time for you to revise your game plan. Start again from the beginning, master the basic skills and roll.
