Sen. Raymond Lesniak of the New Jersey state would bring the interstate internet poker to New Jersey through the Atlantic City casinos. The New Jersey Bill 490 is identified as the new landmark legislation.
New Jersey Senate bill 490 is considered to be the first interstate internet gambling bill that is introduced in the United States. It was proposed by the California legislation that is to be discussed in February 2010. It is believed to be the first move towards the licensing and legal regulation of the internet poker in the state level.
Only brick-and-mortar Atlantic City casinos will be considered for the license under this new legislation. The gaming will be centred based on the casinos as well as for the residents in New Jersey.
The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement is already ready to govern the different activities in the Atlantic City casinos that would regulate the different online sites. The newest state bill will provides for casinos games to be available through online poker rooms.
Residents of New Jersey do not have anything to worry for the rights in their place are not affected for they can still place at different offshore poker sites. One condition of the bill indicates a need to be pre-empted by federal legislation.
